Scope

This policy covers the native MagiCal iPhone and Mac apps, version 1.0, and the temporary local scan page opened from the Mac app’s QR code. The separate MagiCal web application and website have their own privacy policy at https://magi-cal.com/privacy.

Scans and documents

MagiCal reads photos, images, PDFs, and text you choose using Apple recognition frameworks on your device. The native apps do not upload source documents, recognized text, or calendar records to the operator or an internet recognition service. The photo picker gives access only to your selections. Cloud-hosted files may first be downloaded by their storage provider.

Scan with iPhone on Mac

The Mac app creates a random, temporary link to a receiver running on your Mac. In your iPhone browser, you choose photos to send directly to the Mac over the local network. Transfers use HTTP; use a trusted Wi-Fi network. There is no internet relay. The link expires after ten minutes, and closing the scan window stops the receiver. Photos awaiting completion are held in memory. After you finish transferring, the imported draft may be stored locally on the Mac.

Speech

Microphone and Speech Recognition access are requested when you use voice input. Supported English speech recognition runs on your device; the app requires on-device recognition and has no server fallback. Raw recordings are not saved by MagiCal. Recognized text can be included in your local draft. If recognition is unavailable, you can type or paste instead.

Calendar access

With your permission, MagiCal lists writable calendars and reads calendar information to check for possible duplicates. Events are added only after you review and confirm them. Choosing Create Calendar creates an empty calendar in a supported account; this does not add scanned events. Account sign-in is handled by Apple’s system settings or Calendar app. Calendar data may synchronize through Apple, Google, Microsoft, Exchange, or another provider according to your account settings and that provider’s policies. The operator does not receive those records.

Local storage and deletion

Unfinished drafts, source images, transcripts, and suggested events stay in the app’s local storage so you can resume them. Draft folders are excluded from device backup. Completed drafts clear when you reopen the app or begin another scan; the Mac app also clears completed drafts when you return Home. Preferences such as your remembered calendar stay on your device.

On iPhone, choose Discard scan & start over on Home and confirm Discard Scan, or use Settings → Delete Current Draft. On Mac, use Help & Privacy → Delete Current Draft. This deletes the draft and its sources from MagiCal. It does not delete original photos or documents, or events already added to Calendar. Manage saved events in Calendar. Revoking permissions prevents future access but does not automatically remove a draft already stored locally. On iPhone, deleting the app also removes its local app data. On Mac, use Delete Current Draft before removing the app to clear drafts explicitly.

Analytics, tracking, and purchases

The native apps have no advertising, tracking, third-party analytics SDK, third-party crash-reporting SDK, operator account system, or server-side scan archive. They do not collect advertising identifiers or precise location. Apple handles App Store purchases and may process purchase information, TestFlight feedback, and system diagnostics under Apple’s policies and your settings. MagiCal does not receive payment-card details through the native apps.

Support correspondence

If you email help@magi-cal.com, Michael Swirsky receives your email address and the message and attachments you choose to send. Support messages are used to respond to your request and troubleshoot the app. Email service providers process those messages to deliver and store the correspondence. Support emails are deleted within 90 days after the issue is resolved, except when legally required to keep them longer. You can request deletion by emailing help@magi-cal.com. No support message is sent automatically by the app. Do not include passwords or private schedules unless necessary, and remove unnecessary personal details.

Your choices

You may decline permissions, use alternate inputs, compare and edit suggestions, delete drafts, and manage events in Calendar. MagiCal is a general productivity app and does not create child profiles or ask for ages. Only import material you are permitted to use. Contact help@magi-cal.com about privacy or support correspondence. The operator cannot remotely access or delete information stored only on your devices or with your calendar provider.

Changes
